SUMMARY

As an OR Surgical Tech, you are crucial in the efficiency and overall success of operations. You will assist the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub tech who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures, ensuring sterilization at every point of the process.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday | Days 8am-4:30pm

ATTRIBUTES

  • Completed a military surgical technology program
    -OR-
    Certified Surgical Technologist certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTS) and degree in Surgical Technology required
    -OR-
    Grand-Fathering Clause- Provide evidence he or she was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 12/31/10 - 12/31/14.
    -OR-
    Hard to Fill Clause-Certified Surgical Technologist certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within 24 months after employment and degree from accredited program required.
    -OR-
    * Surgical Technologist Certification is not required for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with current licensure in the State of New York

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • CME maintenance. Must maintain at least 15 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) per year
  • Supply check & sterilization. Ensure all supplies, instrumentation and equipment are available and sterilized for surgical procedures and proper operation
  • Orientation. Assist in guiding medical/nursing students and technicians to the unit
  • Draping & maintenance. Assist with draping procedures and demonstrates vigilance in maintaining overall sterility in the operation room
  • Unit development. Help identify goals and objectives of the unit

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
